Unlike some of the other food and wine festivals we have been to, the portion sizes are very limited. That is not what you will experience at Knott’s Boysenberry Festival. The food is delicious, and the portion sizes are great, as are the drinks. The best way to take advantage of all of the new food offerings is to pick up a tasting card.
In this post, we will share quite a few tips to make the most of your day, as well as tips to enjoy the festival, what to try and what to skip, and a few other hidden gems.
Tips for Making the Most of Your Festival Experience
Knott’s Berry Farm kicked off its annual Boysenberry Festival this past week. This park has such an adorable charm, and this festival was the topping on the cake. We are hitting up every Knott’s Berry Farm Special Event this year and want to share the top highlights with you and show you how to make the most of your festival.
We are going to discuss a few tips and get them out of the way before we chat about all the fun and exciting things you should order and try.
Plan Ahead.
Map out your route. There is a bit of a flow to the park’s booths, activities, and where the event is “hosted.” You can plan your route ahead of time by checking out the options.
Even if you’ve never been to Knott’s Berry Farm, you will pick up on the flow of the pack quickly.
When you first enter the park, you should stick to the left of the windmill and head into Ghost Town, towards Calico Park and Charleston Circle.
How long does the Boysenberry Festival Last?
The Knott’s Boysenberry Festival runs from March 8 to April 28. You do not need an additional ticket for this event; your general park admission is all you will need. More on the tasting card shortly but there is no Knott’s Boysenberry Festival Ticket needed.
What is the Boysenberry Festival at Knott’s Berry Farm?
So what is the Knott’s Boysenberry Festival? It is an annual event to celebrate EVERYTHING Boysenberry. From beers to wines to seltzers and sangria, coffee cake, the best beignets, dippin’ dots, and ICEE floats, to anything food-related you can think of, they celebrate that every Boysenberry can be traced back to this farm—every single one.
They even sell boysenberry plants at the event, and you can take them home with you on the airplane.
It’s not the most realistic, but I thought we would try it, especially if you love them as much as I do.
With over 75 mouthwatering boysenberry-infused dishes and drinks, there’s something to satisfy every palate. From savory delights like chicken tikka masala with boysenberry curry sauce to sweet treats like boysenberry and chocolate stuffed cookies, the festival offers a unique twist on classic favorites.
For the best tasting experience, consider purchasing a tasting card for $55, which includes six tastings of boysenberry-inspired dishes and drinks. Alternatively, signature boysenberry items are available for individual purchase. Whether you’re a foodie or just looking for a fun day out with the family, the Knott’s Boysenberry Festival has something for everyone.

For a refreshing twist, quench your thirst with the iconic Boysenberry ICEE or savor the delightful texture of Boysenberry Dippin’ Dots.

Among the must-try dishes and beverages, we highly recommend the Peach and Cheese Burrata Caprese Salad with a Boysenberry Dressing, which offers a perfect balance of flavors, and the savory Boysenberry Sausage and Hot Honey Pizza topped with ricotta cheese and basil. While not overwhelmed with boysenberry flavoring, try out the Tikka Masala with Boysenberry curry sauce served over rice.
The Skip List
On the flip side, if barbecue isn’t your preference, consider skipping the cheese wedges with BBQ sauce, as the texture and aroma may not be to your liking.
Additionally, beware of smaller drink servings at certain spots.

Craft Beer Tasting
One unique aspect of the Boysenberry Festival is the craft beer tasting. For $35, you can purchase a craft beer and cocktail card that is good for 4 tastings and 4 souvenir cups to take home.
There are over 15 different tastings on the card, and many of them are from throughout the park. You can also order full-size tastings at this location as well, and there are multiple food stands within the Wilderness Dance Hall building.
This was a massive highlight for me. I love a good tasting, and while I found it to be a little more on the expensive side, it’s in line with most “tastings” of its caliber.

As we mentioned earlier, the best way to enjoy the annual food and wine festival is to purchase a tasting card, which allows you to sample many signature Boysenberry items.
Your taste buds will be taken on a food tasting adventure as well as the boysenberry-infused beverages.

Plus, guests have the flexibility to order from both the à la carte menu and the Tasting Card menu at each location, providing versatility and convenience during their visit. You cannot use your tasting card for a la carte food and drinks.

Whatever you do, do not order the watermelon seltzer; at the Silver Bullet Booth, you can find Boysenberry wine, a Boysenberry Heff, and Boysenberry Sagria with an Orange Slice. Get one of those and the Boysenberry Dippin’ Dots, and enjoy watching or riding on Silver Bullet.
Exclusive Boysenberry Prosecco
Now, I’m not saying this is the only reason we went to the Knott’s Boysenberry Festival, but it’s in solid second place. All jokes aside, we’ve been craving this drink since last year’s festival, and I’m so thankful they brought it back.
You can get a very similar drink at the new restaurant inside the Knott’s Hotel. It is not the same and has a totally different flavor, but if you crave it like I do, you can make a special request for a boysenberry champagne, and it’s as close as you can get.
This delicious prosecco is located at the Prop Shop Pizzeria by Pony Express and the Knott’s Theater. We also picked up the boysenberry sausage pizza, which was absolutely fabulous. If you are in a rush, the Prop Shop has quick-service salads and other healthy snacks you can grab and go.

For an enhanced experience, we recommend savoring these cocktails at Knott’s Hotel, where you can unwind after a day of adventure.
While our visit during the soft opening revealed some initial hiccups in service, we extended patience to the new establishment as they found their rhythm.
With a welcoming bar area to relax and unwind, Knott’s new restaurant provides the ideal setting to cap off your day with great food, drinks, and a well-deserved moment of relaxation.

In addition to indulging in delicious treats, visitors can enjoy a variety of entertainment options throughout the park.
From musical performances to interactive games, there’s never a dull moment at Knott’s Berry Farm.
Highlights include the musical journey “Knott’s Preserved,” the comedy melodrama “Riverboat Revenge,” and the entertaining Boysenberry Pie Eating Contest.
Families can also visit Old MacDonald’s Barn to meet adorable farm animals or explore the History of the Boysenberry Museum in Town Hall.

Live Entertainment on the Musical Stage
Listen to live music at Wagon Camp. One of the days we were there, we enjoyed listening to the performance in the park hosted by one of the local schools. They played really great songs, and their talent blew me away.
Old Macdonald’s Barn
One really unique thing about Knott’s is the small barn in Southern California’s theme parks and Ghost Town area.
History of the Boysenberry
Inside Town Hall, you will find the wonderful story of the Boysenberry. You can relax with a drink and listen to the story.
Pie Eating Contest
Head over to the Calico Mine Stage for one of two fun events. First up is the Pie eating contest. There is typically only one show time for the pie-eating contest.
If you want a chance to take part in the pie eating contest, show up around 30 minutes before, find a Knott’s employee, and throw your name in the hat. If picked at the beginning of the show, you will make your way to the stage and receive your boysenberry pie to finish.
Thankfully you don’t have to finish the pie to win, you have to clear your pie plate the fastest.
Knott’s Reserved
The second of the events that take place on the Calico Mine Stage, enjoy the music and story version of the history of the Buena Park theme park and the Boysenberry with the Knott’s Preserved show.
