    • Eight years of marriage with the one who stole my heart. Happy 8th anniversary to my loving husband, my partner in life and my forever soulmate. Here's to countless more chapters of love, laughter, and cherished moments together. ❤️
Thank you for always standing by my side.
    • Happy Mothers Day.

    • Sapphire lounges, and a huge lesson learned
Don't get to the airport more than 4 hours prior to your flight.
Yes, I know it was early, but we really did not want to hall our luggage everywhere, including the stroller and car seat. Toddler travel is tough when it comes to getting dropped off at the airport and picked up.
There is just a lot that you have to move within the toddler stage. I would argue that infant travel is easier, especially with that Doona car seat, and stroller combo.
There is a car seat called the Pico Portable by Wayb, and it is on my top must-have list. It folds down super compact for easy travel.
Family travel is tough at this stage, and I now understand why more people say it's tough.
We hung out at a coffee shop at the Austin airport outside of security. There is usually a bar/lounge, but it is currently under remodeling, so coffee it was.
Once we got through security, we discovered there was a chase sapphire lounge. Many of our credit cards give us lounge access to tons of airports. If I know one thing, airport food is expensive. We get more than our monies worth going to these lounges.
This is one of the newest in the airport and has a terrace that overlooks the airplanes as they take off.
A little loud, and imagine white noise, just airplanes.
We took a super late flight out, and this was only our second time flying late at night with Sloan. Our TX board time wasn't until 7:45, and we weren't supposed to land in Reno until 11:50 pm.
We finally got Sloan a window seat, and she was finally happy to be back on the airplane again. Our other two flights, she didn't have one and was not so happy about the experience. Don't ask for her feedback, you will get a 1 star.
Our second flight was delayed because our Denver pilot was running late, and we ended up landing at 1:00 am instead.
I don't know what it is about the second flight, but I always seem to not do as well, and Dramamine makes me so groggy.
Home for a week and off to Austin
    • Mitchell had a really early morning for a special morning call during his week-long intensive. So Sloan and I rented a car through Turo ( way more complicated than public transit, lol) but needed to head a little out of town for the children's museum, The Thinkery. and to a little coastal stop for some locally roasted coffee on the water.
The car rental was a bit of a mission, but Sloan thought it was the coolest thing we had this bright red car.
Simple things, I guess.
When I set off this particular morning, I forgot my car, wall bricks, and battery pack, I had the cord but literally, nothing to plug it into. 10%, and it was only 9:30 😬
Low power mode it was.
This particular Austin kid's museum is really centered around hands-on activities. Sloan always gravitates to the water, but it was a fun way to spend the morning.
I wanted to go to The Contemporary a little up the road, but Sloan needed to sleep.
I drove through the cutest neighborhood and got coffee from Motzarts. There was a little deck that overlooked Austin Lake, and I pretty much could have spent all day there.
Once we finished our coffee it was time for a few more murals and The Zilker Park Botanical Garden.
The Japanese gardens were my favorite but Austin had a neon light art show going on. They were set up all over the dinosaur area. The event was at night but the lights were still illuminated and cool to look at during the day.
Since I had the car I planned on picking Mitchell up but wanted a quick bite to eat. We went over to Salt Traders where we had potstickers, a cheeseburger, and bread and butter.
Tonight was our last night, and we had leftovers from the week, and voo doo donuts were calling our names.
The donut names are very funny, and I have to say the maple bar was very yummy. 🤣
Our hotel had this cute balcony that overlooked the street, so we sat outside and enjoyed our delicious food from the week.
Tomorrow was packing day, and I was not excited to be going home.
    • Trains, illusions, and a sweet treat.
I had no idea what we were getting into when I started this day. I've traveled by train before, but this was Sloan and my first time together, and she crushed it.
With just a backpack and the carrier, we made our trek to The Domain for a few museums and a fun-filled day.
The community we went to right outside of downtown had a park and
Food truck coops are everywhere.
We stumbled upon this one a few blocks from where we had drinks, and we had some really fabulous chicken curry and grilled cheese.
Especially since I'm used to one day a week for a limited amount of time in the spring and summer with long lines.🥴 These were absolutely amazing and all over town.
Our networking friends went out to a piano bar and had a great time, we headed back to the hotel for a good nights rest and an early morning.
    Follow the Journey!
